Sizzler-CulverCity

PAPA July 11, 2026 Westside Luncheon

On Saturday July 11, 24 PAPA members, friends and test applicants got together at the Culver City Sizzler for the Westside lunch. It was a successful social meeting with lots of conversations between members.

Our ham license test session saw one Amateur Extra upgrade and 5 new Technicians. Listen for those new callsigns on-the -air soon.

Special Presentation: Parachutes!

PAPA’s own Bill KQ6BIL spoke on the development of the Orion and SpaceX recovery parachutes. Before he retired from Airborne Systems, NA, NJ in February 2025, Bill was the Chief Engineer leading the research and development team. He worked the very early days of both the Orion and SpaceX recovery parachutes in the California division.
