The PAPA Thousand Palms Luncheon
was held on Saturday May 2, 2026
The Thousand Palms Luncheon was well attended by 12 members and guests.
After introductions and PAPA announcements, Bill KQ6BIL introduced himself as the speaker for the day. Bill spoke on how the Orion and SpaceX recovery parachute systems were designed and how they function. He showed two brief CPAS (Orion) test videos. Additional discussion included Troop and Special Forces parachute systems along with advanced guided (JPADS) cargo systems. Thank you to Bill for expanding our knowledge beyond just radio!
