Special Presentation: Life Above 1 GHz with Tony KC6QHP
There’s life above 1 GHz! Lots in fact! Did you know that 99.7% of allocated amateur radio spectrum exists above 1 GHz? Are you interested in exploring some of this lightly charted territory? At the upcoming November PAPA meeting, I will be doing a bit of show and tell with equipment I built over the years as I continue my mission to work all the bands. I hope to demystify the world above 1 GHz and get you interested in getting on the air. I plan to bring radios and antennas covering several bands including 10, 24, 47, and 122 GHz.
Ham License Exam @ 9:45am
Ham License Exams are available in conjunction with the San Diego PAPA System Luncheon. To register, go to: http://ham.study/sessions/k6sml. Door Prizes!
Our PAPA Partners have agreed to support our Luncheons and Breakfasts with their products for door prizes. One winner will be able to select from five different prizes. The goal is to sell a minimum of $300 worth of tickets to cover the cost of the door prize and help raise funds for PAPA projects.
PAPA Quick Start Program
In conjunction with our test sessions, PAPA has a “New Technician” gift. Anyone passing the Technician exam at one of our meetings will have the opportunity to participate in the PAPA Quick Start Program.
Our Quick Start Program is designed to get you on the air as soon as your new FCC license arrives and help you understand how to use a radio on the PAPA System to communicate with fellow hams. It’s quick and easy to participate in the Quick Start Program. The PAPA System will provide you with a pre-programmed UHF handheld radio at no cost to you and assist you with technical and operational issues as you learn more about ham radio. We will help you make your first radio contact, and look forward to your participation in the New Hams Net. More details are available at the test session.
In-person meeting are fun social gatherings to talk with people you meet on the air, talk about projects, contests, or catch up with friends. We have presentations at some meetings. Before each meeting is a test session for new hams or those wanting to upgrade their license.
