For almost a decade PAPA has partnered with a San Diego area data center to provide a high-availability network for our analog repeater system. This partnership has also allowed PAPA to expand support to other technologies and modes such as the PAPA Echolink conference server, DMR, D-STAR and P25.
Recent changes at the data center have curtailed our ability to support the PAPA DMR and D-STAR transcoders in a sustainable and cost effective manner.
The practical result is that we have deprecated our DMR-to-analog and D-STAR-to-analog transcoders as of July 24, 2026. The PAPA “DMR Bridge” (DMR talkgroup 31078) and D-STAR X-Reflector 12 (XRF012) will no longer carry analog traffic, nor will they present transcoded digital traffic to the analog repeater network.
The TechTeam is currently researching alternative solutions. At such time that an acceptable alternative is identified, the DMR and D-STAR transcoders will be re-enabled and announced.
