Tustin Antenna Show & Tell

April 7 PAPA Antenna Show and Tell Event

We met in a business parking lot in Tustin. We had 3 stations set up with HF and VHF/UHF antennas and radios, batteries, solar panels. The Tustin event ran from 9 until noon, and 11 people attended. Dave KO6BAF and his dad Vic KO6DYZ came all the way from San Diego and made contact with a ham in Alaska using a Xiegu G90 and Chelegance JPC 12 vertical!

Jason KG6HZZ was getting a lot of FT8 contacts on his Yaesu FTDX10 using a DX Engineering TW-2010-P antenna. The ATAS 120 antenna on his car was very well liked.

I had my Icom 7300 on 10 meters with the Chameleon MPAS 2.0 in vertical configuration, Icom 5100 was monitoring PAPA 3 with a homebrew J Pole antenna, and a 705 was hooked up to a mag mount just to show you don’t need much to hit a repeater.

We are already exploring the possibility of setting up at Irvine Regional Park for our next show and tell. Needless to say, it was a lot of fun.
